Simplicity, stewardship, and sacrifice are disciplines that, at times, we in North America seemed to have abandoned. The discipline of simplicity, or frugality, is a willingness to refrain from using our resources for our own gratification. Stewardship calls us to look at our resources as those of .Another., for His use. And sacrifice involves giving away resources that would ordinarily be used to sustain ourselves. In so doing, we engage our faith in God that He will provide for our needs.
Haiti Children's Home is entirely dependent on the generosity of others. Donations are the only way that so many mouths can possibly be fed, so many illnesses treated, so many bumps, bruises, and scrapes bandaged. The cost of medical supplies, food, workers wages, and other unforeseen expenses, such as vehicle repairs or replacements creates a huge need for HCH. The local Haitian staff is paid small wages ($3 CDN per day), but without it they would likely have no income to sustain their families. This in itself is a ministry to the community.
